Raymond Hightower

Currently based in Germany, I’m a U.S. Air Force non-commissioned officer in network infrastructure and operations.

I have spent eight years designing, implementing, testing, and developing training for core network technologies across unique defense environments. In my current role, I lead a specialized team deploying rapid and enduring IP network restoration solutions to U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Africa.

I’m passionate about connecting people through technology and connecting people to technology through education and mentorship. With network engineering as my foundation, I’ve enjoyed exploring topics like DevOps, automation, cloud computing, Linux, and AI/ML, all with the goal of improving myself and the way we operate the networks we rely on day in and day out. In 2025, I made the decision to start KnowYourNetworks as a place to document my journey, with the hope of informing or inspiring those on a similar path.

I’ve hinted at some topics above, but I want to leave the floor open for exploration and creativity. If you’ve decided to come along for the ride, let’s find some problems worth solving!
